Scientific Conference dedicated to the 100th jubilee of prominent scientist, well-known public figure, science and education organizer, founder of the Department of Differential and Integral equations, correspondent member of ANAS, doctor of physico-mathematical sciences, professor Goshqar Ahmedov was held at Baku State University.
Rector of the University, academician Abel Maharramov said that Goshgar Ahmedov is one of the most prominent intellectuals in the history of the university, who created a school in Azerbaijan’s mathematical science.
The Rector said that as a result of his activity, the first scientific conference in the field of optimal control in the former Soviet Union was held under the leadership of Goshgar Akhmedov in Baku, and noted that the representations of this school are well-known experts in various scientific disciplines. Abel Maharramov also said that one of the most important spheres of Goshgar Aliyev’s activity is his pedagogical activity.
He was a great scientist and great pedagogue. He gave talks in high scientific level with great craftsmanship on ordinary differential equations, variational calculus, optimization methods and lectures on other principal and special courses.
Then, the dean of mechanics and mathematics faculty, professor Nizamaddin Isgandarov made a report on the scientific and pedagogical activity of Goshgar Akhmedov.
Then, director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, correspondent member of ANAS, professor Misir Mardanov made a report on “Goshgar Ahmedov as a great scientist and teacher”. He noted that, being a great scientist, Goshgar Akhmedov was also a great pedagogue, with great craftsmanship and high scientific level and gave talks on ordinary differential equations, variational calculus and optimization methods, other major and specific courses. More than 60 candidates and doctoral dissertations were defended under the guidance of this unforgettable teacher, who was the author of over 70 scientific papers.
It should be noted that recently the book of the director of ANAS Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, correspondent member of ANAS, professor Misir Mardanov”My teacher Goshgar Akhmedov” was published in the Radius publishing house. The 264-page book is devoted to the life and scientific creativity of prominent scientist, skilled science organizer, humble and humanist, corresponding member of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences, doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor Goshgar Ahmedov. The book, based on numerous archival materials, provides a comprehensive overview of the way of life that will serve as a model for everyone who has a short, but meaningful lifestyle.
The head of the Department of Science, Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Ministry of Education Sulhaddin Gozalov, the employee of Gedebey District Executive Authority Nijat Aliyev, heads of chairs of BSU, academicians Yusif Mammadov and academician Vasif Babazade from the name of his family the sister of Goshgar Ahmedov, Gulara Ahmedova addressed the meeting.
Confrence continued its work in eight sections. 180 reports from republican higher educational institutions, institutes of ANAS, including Turkey, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan were heard.
