Telman Gasimov was born on October 28, 1959 in Khankendi region, Nagorno-Karabakh.

Gasimov has been working at the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of BSU for many years. He graduated from the Mechanics and Mathematics faculty of Baku State University in 1981 with a distinction and served as the chief laboratory assistant at the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of ANAS. In 1983-1985 he worked at the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov under the guidance of academician V.A. Sadovnichy and in 1985 entered the postgraduate department of MSU. In 1988 he defended his dissertation work at the Moscow State University and received a PhD in Physical and Mathematical Sciences. From 1988 to 2008 he worked in the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of ANAS as a researcher, senior researcher, leading researcher.

T.B. Gasimov served in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1993-1999 and was retired in the rank of Major. In those years, he participated in the Karabakh war and is a veteran of the Karabakh conflict.

T.B. Gasimov has been working as an hourly professor at the Mechanics-Mathematics and Applied Mathematics faculties of Baku State University in 2001-2007. Works as a full-time associate professor. In 2018 he defended his dissertation and received a doctorate in mathematics.

He is the author of more than 80 scientific articles and theses. Of these, 40 articles (17 published in foreign journals, 7 in indexed journals), and the rest are published in the materials of various international and national scientific conferences. He has acted as a plenary speaker at the International Conference on Spectral Theory and Related Issues in October 2018 in Ufa, Russian Federation. T.B. Gasimov twice (2014-2015 and 2018-2019) was the winner of Science Development Foundation at the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and in 2018 of the grant competition “50 + 50” established by BSU.

T.B. Gasimov carries 500-550 hours of teaching load each academic year, supervises master’s and dissertation works, as well as doctoral and dissertation works. He is actively involved in teaching and social work, preparing the exam programs at the department, faculty and university. T.B. Gasimov is a talented scientist and experienced teacher. He has earned the respect of the teaching staff and students. For his services in this field, he was awarded an honorary diploma of  BSU in 2009. T.B. Gasimov was also awarded a letter of thanks from the Ministry of Education as a member of the jury on the Republican Subject Olympiads in the 2017-2018 academic year.
