\u201cIn general, the genocide against the Azerbaijan people with its incredible cruelty and inhumane methods of punishment is the act of atrocity in the history of mankind. This genocide as well as is a crime against humanity\u201d. Azerbaijan\u2019s national leader Heydar Aliyev <\/strong><\/p>\n

25 years passes since one of the most terrible tragedies of human history, Kojaly genocide.
\nDirector of IMM, prof. Misir Mardanov spoke about Khojaly tragedy that happened on night of February 25 to February 26, 1992 and was executed with the help of military staff of 366 regiment of the Soviet Army.
\nKhojaly is the city of Azerbaijan within the administrative borders of Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan on the way of Agdam-Shusha-Khankendi-Askeran and near the of only airport near the town. As a result of this tragedy known as the Khojaly tragedy, thousands of people were killed, captured and the city itself was razed to the ground.
\nBefore the attack, the city was fired on the evening of February 25 by heavy artillery and heavy armored vehicles. As a result of the fires, on February 26, at 5 o\u2019clock in the morning, the whole city was in fire. In such a case, nearly 2.500 people living in the town surrounded by armenians were forced to leave the city with the hope to reach the center of Agdam city. However, these plans have failed. Armenian forces have destroyed the city and killed the civilians.
\nDuring the genocide 613 people were killed, 1.000 place full people of different age became invalid from gunshot wounds. 106 women, 63 children, 70 old men were killed. 8 families were completely destroyed, 25 children lost both parents and 130 lost one parent. On the night of tragedy 487 people wounded, among them 76 children; 1275 people were taken to hostage; the fate of 150 of them is still unknown.
\nAll this was carried out by Armenian militarists with special mercilessness and inconceivable barbarism.
\nMilli Majlis (Parlament) of Azerbaijan declared February 26 the day of \u201cKhojaly genocide\u201d. Every year on February 26, at 17.00 at the Azerbaijan people tribute the memory of the victims of Khojaly genocide.
\nKhojaly inhabitants displaced from their homes now line in 48 districts of Azerbaijan and are living with the hope of just settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and end of aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan and restoration of country\u2019s territorial integrity.
\nIn order to supply the international society with information about Khojaly tragedy and to immortalize the memory of the victims of this genocide many campaigns are held. One of these campaigns is the campaign called \u201cJustice to Khojaly\u201d held by the initiation of Leyla Aliyeva.
