Today the institute seminar was held. At the seminar,\u00a0the chief research officer of the \u201cWave dynamics\u201d department, doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor Nazila Bilal kizi Rasulova\u00a0gave a talk on\u00a0\u201cDestruction of membranes, by impact on it by a cone\u201d.<\/p>\n

Experimental investigations show that under certain conditions, when a cone strikes a flexible membrane, cracks will spread from the point of impact in several directions. In its formulation, this problem is a nonlinear and spatial problem, since the displacements of the particles are finite (and not small) quantities (geometric nonlinearity), and motion occurs on the surface of the cone. In a unique way, the solution of this most complicated problem is reduced to the solution of the problem of the propagation of brittle, star-like cracks in thin plates with extensive stretching; a task that was previously considered by the author (Trans. ASME, Jour. App. Mech., 2010, vol.77).<\/p>\n
