The paper proposes one effective method that allows one to reduce the general quasi-static problems of the theory of linear isotropic viscoelasticity to the Voltaire integral equation of the second kind. The two creep (relaxation) functions included in the constitutive relations, corresponding to the states of shear and volumetric expansion, are assumed to be independent, that is, the viscoelastic Poisson&#8217;s ratio is considered to be variable in time. Unlike many existing methods, the traditional application of integral transformations, is excluded here.
