Vugar Ismailov \u2013 head of the department of \u201cFunction Theory\u201d, Aida Asgarova (PhD) \u2013 researcher of the department of \u201cFunction Theory\u201d, and Ali Huseynli (PhD) \u2013 senior researcher of the department of \u201cNon-Harmonic Analysis\u201d was published in \u201cProceedings of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society\u201d, a prestigious and one of the oldest (since 1884) mathematical journals in the world. \u201cProceedings of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society\u201d is a journal of Edinburgh Mathematical Society (founded in 1883) and is published by \u201cCambridge University Press\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the work a Chebyshev type alternation problem for best approximation by a sum of two closed subalgebras of the space of real-valued continuous functions defined on a compact metric space is investigated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let X be a compact metric space, C(X) be the space of continuous real-valued functions on X, and A<sub>1<\/sub>,A<sub>2<\/sub> be two closed subalgebras of C(X) containing constant&nbsp;functions. The problem of approximation of a function f \u2208 C(X) by elements&nbsp;from A<sub>1<\/sub>+A<sub>2<\/sub> is considered. We prove a Chebyshev type alternation theorem for a function u<sub>0<\/sub> \u2208 A<sub>1<\/sub>+A<sub>2<\/sub> to be a best approximation to f.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(see <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1017\/S0013091523000494\">https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1017\/S0013091523000494<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u00a9 All rights are reserved.
