Discussed the annual activity of the Division of Physical-Mathematical and Technical Sciences


On December 11 and 13, 2019 general meetings of the Division of Physical-Mathematical and Technical Sciences (DPMTS) was held.

Opening the meeting, academician Nazim Mammadov provided information on the agenda. He said that at today’s meeting the annual reports of the division’s Institutes would be listened.

Later on, academician Javad Abdinov submitted an annual report of the Institute of Physics, and stated that, this year, Institute of Physics conducted 39 research studies on the plan. The results are reflected in 1 book, 2 monographs, 422 articles. 278 of these articles were published in prestigious foreign scientific journals, including 201 in journals included in the Web of Science database. 6450 references to the publications of our scientists.

J. Abdinov noted that for the first time in the history of ANAS, this year the article of our scientists was published in the celebrate journal “Nature”, which has more than 40 impact factors. This research is conducted within the grant of the Scientific Development Fund under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, headed by academician Nazim Mammadov, “Spin polarized electron structure, optical and transfer properties of non-trivial magnetic semiconductors”. In general, Institute conducted research on 17 grant projects this year.

Then Namig Jalilov, director of Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory named after N. Tusi, presented the report of the organization for the current year. Jalilov said that 21 studies were carried out in the observatory and the results were reflected in 2 books, 1 monograph and 36 articles. He noted that 20 of these articles were published in prestigious scientific journals and 14 in journals included in the Web of Science database. He added that there were 105 references to the works of our scientists this year. This year, the observatory carried out research on four grant projects.

Director of the Institute of Radiation Problems, corresponding member of ANAS Ogtay Samadov presented the report of the Institute and said that 25 scientific researches were carried out this year. He noted that the results were reflected in 3 books, 2 monographs and 153 articles. According to the scientist, 98 of these articles were published in prestigious international journals and 61 in journals included in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. In addition, 1192 references were made to the publications of scholars, including 18 grant research studies.

The report of the Institute of Biophysics on the scientific activity of 2019 was presented by the director of the institute, corresponding member of ANAS Oktay Gasimov. He noted that the results of 5 research studies carried out this year were reflected in articles published in journals included in the Web of Science database, with 152 references to scholarly publications. He said that this year the Institute conducted research on 6 grant projects.

Presenting the annual report of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, corresponding member of ANAS Misir Mardanov said that 104 research works were carried out during the year. The results are reflected in 5 books, 1 monograph, 181 articles. 139 of these articles have been published in prestigious scientific journals, including 99 in journals included in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. M. Mardanov said that research works were carried out in the framework of 7 grant projects this year, including 1,600 references to the publications of our scientists.

Speaking on the report of the Institute of Control Systems in 2019, director of the institute, academician Telman Aliyev said that 39 research studies were carried out at the Institute, and the results were reflected in 4 books and 218 articles. According to the scientist, 146 of these articles were published in prestigious scientific journals, including 79 in journals included in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. There are 1362 references to the publications of our scientists. Also, this year the Institute conducted research on 12 grant projects.

Submitting a report on the scientific-organizational activity of the Institute of Information Technology, academician Rasim Alguliyev told about scientific-theoretical, scientific-practical and innovative activity of the enterprise, as well as the formation of electronic science, web technologies, multimedia technologies. He reported on the work done during the year and stated that, 67 research studies were carried out this year at the enterprise. The results are reflected in 7 books, 1 monograph, and 89 articles. 50 articles have been published in prestigious scientific journals, including 25 in journals included in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. 1205 references to the publications of our scientists. The scientist noted that this year the institute is conducting research within 3 grant projects.

In conclusion, academician Fikrat Aliyev submitted an annual report of the Research Institute of Applied Mathematics of Baku State University.

There was extensive discussion around the reports. Following the discussions, reports of the relevant institutions of the division have been accepted.
