On May 13-15, 2019 an international conference on “Modern Problems of Mathematics and Mechanics”, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Acting Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, rector of the Moscow State University named after M.Lomonosov, doctor of physical and mathematical sci., Professor Victor Antonovich Sadovnichi, was held.

Professor Araz Aliyev, senior researcher at the Department of “Functional Analysis” of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of ANAS, attended the conference. The scientist made a lecture at the event.

During the visit, A. Aliyev also met with academician V. Sadovnichi, conveyed the congratulations of Director of IMM, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Misir Mardanov and presented him a congratulatory address signed by the director.

Then Professor Araz Aliyev presented the second edition of the book “The Functional Analysis” by the late academician Zahid Khalilov, whose book was the first textbook on functional analysis in the former USSR. Viktor Sadovnichi noted that the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics is a scientific-research center with fine traditions and expressed his gratitude to the staff of Misir Mardanov and IMM.
