On September 12, the Presidium of ANAS held a general meeting of the Department of Physical-Mathematical and Technical Sciences (DPMTS).

Opening the event, the academic secretary of the DPMTS, academician Nazim Mammadov spoke about the issues on the agenda. He said that at today’s meeting, there will be elections to fill the position of director in the institutes of Physics, Mathematics and Mechanics, Information Technology, Control Systems and Biophysics.

Mammadov said that the candidates for the post of director of scientific research institutions of the department are nominated among scientists with great scientific achievements, scientific-organizational skills and experience by secret ballot in the scientific council of the institute. The voting results are then entered in the department.

He said that a technical expert commission was set up to review the documents submitted to the department, and said that the election would be held by secret ballot at the meeting of the DPMTS and that the elected candidates would be approved by the decision of the ANAS Presidium.

Then academician Yusif Mammadov informed the finalists of the competition commission and experts.

At the meeting, a computational commission was established to select the director of the department’s scientific institutions. The chairman of the commission, academician Javad Abdinov, the composition (correspondent members of ANAS Masuma Mammadova and Vagif Guliyev) were elected.

By secret ballot, academician Nazim Mammadov was elected director to the Institute of Physics, correspondent member of ANAS Misir Mardanov to Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, academician Rasim Aliguliyev to Institute of Information Technology, Academician Telman Aliyev to Institute of Control Systems, Oktay Gasimov to the Institute of Phisphysics.

34 out of 40 members participated in the vote.

It was decided to submit the results of the elections to the Presidium of ANAS.
