Azerbaijani scholars are in business trip to China

Within the framework of scientific cooperation between the scientists of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics and his Chinese counterparts, the head of the Fluids Mechanics Department, corresponding member of the Azerbaijan NAS, Dr. Geylani Panahov and leading research, Dr. Eldar Abbasov visited the PRC. Upon the invitation of the Scientific Center «New Horizon» (Beijing, PRC) our scientist conducted joint research and discuss the new opportunities for technological exchange.

The results of scientific research of our scientists and the new methods and technologies developed on their basis aroused wide interest among Chinese scientists and specialists in the field of oil production and enhanced oil recovery. These issues have set the stage for new joint research and field tests, with the initiative made by the Chinese side.

During a visit, the scientists of the Institute held meetings and discussions on ways and methods of adaptation and testing of innovative developments on the Chinese oil fields. In particular, a meeting held with representatives of the scientific center “New Horizon” and specialists of the leading Chinese state oil company CNOOC, which produces oil on the offshore field in Bohai Bay.

At the suggestion of the oil company, Geylani Panahov and Eldar Abbasov participated in testing a new technology of hydrodynamic impact on oil-saturated reservoirs. In the complicated conditions of offshore oil production, a technological operation on the injection well S12ST01 successfully implemented. Results of pilot test will discussed during joint observations and analysis with the company representatives and scientists.

Chinese colleagues also expressed interest in the implementation of joint research projects in Azerbaijan, offering the latest developments in the field of geophysical software for the interpretation of seismic studies of oil fields.
