On October 18, 2019 at the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of ANAS, at the initiative of the IBC, a member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Deputy Chairman of the Milli Majlis, Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Bahar Muradova The meeting was held on the occasion. The chairman of the Trade Union Committee of ANAS prof. Habil Gurbanov also attended the meeting.

Opening the event, Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Misir Mardanov congratulated the staff of the Institute on the holiday and thanked Bahar Muradova for accepting our invitation.

Bahar Muradova, deputy of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, gave a speech on the history of the State Independence Day:

“History has repeatedly proved that maintaining independence is more difficult than winning it. You need to be prepared for trials, to cope with all the hardships and difficulties. Tala made it clear that Azerbaijan was able to achieve independence twice in a century and create its own sovereign state. Unfortunately, the first opportunity was lost due to external interference, internal conflicts and lack of international support. The Azerbaijani People’s Republic, founded in 1918, has lived for only 23 months. The second historical opportunity appeared 70 years later. The collapse of the Soviet empire allowed the Azerbaijani people to regain their national independence.

On October 18, 1991, at the Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Constitutional Act on the State Independence of Azerbaijan was adopted. With this important historic document, our people have been granted freedom for many years.

Now the political and economic pillars of our independence are becoming stronger. The people have no worries about their statehood. Main factors determining the fate of independence are preserved and developed. Strengthening statehood, economic development, national-moral the same attention is paid to the preservation of values.

Today, Azerbaijan has become one of the most powerful countries in the world, both politically and economically. Due to the pace of economic growth, our country is not only in the region, but also has become a leader in the world. No large-scale project in the region is implemented without the participation and consent of Azerbaijan.The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Main Export Pipeline, which is implemented under the Contract of the Century, is already exporting our oil to the world market. This pipeline plays an important role in ensuring security in the South Caucasus, as well as in the prosperity of our people”.

At the end of the event, Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, Professor Misir Mardanov presented the book “Azerbaijani Mathematicians”, which was published in 2019. Chairman of the IEC of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, Associate Professor Irada Mirzaazade thanked Bahar Muradova, deputy of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and presented her a bouquet of flowers.
